Summer Sounds

New Teacher

I am originally from California, but I’ve also lived all over the southwest. I’ve also lived abroad in Northern Ireland as a missionary, and in Germany as an exchange student.

I have a Masters degree in music with an emphasis in education and theory. My education extends from Biola University, Azusa Pacific University, and Northern Arizona University. I have also taught math and special education for a few years. Additionally, I started my own music company called KJR Music, where I gave piano lessons as well as working at the college level as an accompanist. I also had a company called Problem Solved; I taught all levels of math and national test prep for SAT, ACT, and GRE.

My interests include making jewelry and selling my designs part-time through the company called Sterling Friendship Designs. I love to cook, watch movies and football, as well as camping and swimming.

I have 3 daughters and they are the most important aspects of my life.

In deciding to relocate from Huntsville, Texas to Roanoke, I felt God’s call for me to step out in faith and be closer to family, as well as working a new job that has every promise of being a most fulfilling experience. Plus, I really enjoy experiencing all 4 seasons of color and outdoor activities, as well as travelling by means of road trips.

I am confident, creative, compassionate, hard-working, and I’m able to make anyone feel comfortable in a new situation. Always friendly and a type A personality, I do need to enjoy moments of solitude from time to time. Just give me a good cup of coffee and a great view of nature, and I’m doing fine!
